The No Hassle Tassel
Historically, tassels have been a symbol of serious stature but I find them to be fun and fringy.
Today, tassels are the perfect accent piece. From earrings and purses to light fixtures and pillows, they can accessorize any outfit or space.

Rose Quartz is one of Pantone’s 2016 colors of the year.

It may technically still be summer, but the weather isn’t always warm this time of year. And, it can be especially frustrating on the feet. Sandals? Peep Toes? Booties?
Yes, the end of summer often leaves fashionistas caught between two wardrobes in a state of limbo. But, it doesn’t have to anymore.

You don’t need to live in the wild wild west to rock fringe this spring and summer season.
The iconic western flare has been transformed into a sensual piece of art.
This look by Altazuurra is from their SS 2014 collection and combines classically clean lines with a surprising element of come hither fringe. What makes this outfit really stand out is the long, black leather strips. They contemporize the customary camel-colored suede accents and elevate the overall look from “country cowgirl” to “city chic.”

Color blocking has come a long way since Piet Mondrian first drew black lines against a white background, proceeding to fill in the shapes with red, yellow and blue.
Progressive color blocking is not limited to these three primary colors and nor is it in need of black boarder lines. Removing these lines allows for colors and shapes to overlap each other, adding another layer of dimension and perspective into the mix.
The concept of color blocking has been trending in fashion for the past few years but this look from Helmut Lang’s Spring/Summer 2014 collection stands out from the crowd because it has embraced this notion of color blocking without barriers.
Similarly, this boarder-less bathroom has a uniquely creative look and the lack of lines just helps it feel larger than life.

Most think that Memorial Day weekend marks the official start to summertime mingling and backyard drinking, but it’s my belief that the first weekend in May is when things really start to heat up.
The field is already set for the 140th Kentucky Derby but I won’t be paying too much attention to pole positions because my favorite part about the Derby is the dress code.
The nation’s most fashionable outdoor cocktail party is all about making a statement with pretty dresses, big hats and decorative drinks.
Even though I won't be attending the fastest two minutes in sports this year, I suspect if I could, I’d be draped from head to toe in rose gold because its elegance is understated and that makes a statement all its own.
Whether it’s running for the roses or to the kitchen for another drink, I'll be dashing across the grass in this Venetia sandal by Gianvito Rossi because it adds just the right amount of fancy to your feet.
And, no home bar is complete without a beautiful set of drinking vessels.

You don’t need to wear burlap on your feet or hang hemp shades in your home to prove that you're eco friendly because fashion and interior designers have worked hard to evolve the style and aesthetics of earth friendly fabrics.
H&M launched a sustainable clothing line that is super trendy. They use organic cotton, organic leather, organic linen, organic silk, organic hemp, recycled polyester, recycled wool and FSC natural rubber. This outfit meshes these organic and recycled elements to create a boho chic look that's trendy enough for the boardroom.
3Form is a company that has been on the forefront of sustainable living. They create materials that are suitable for LEED certified commercial buildings and some of their products also work well in residential environments. This Varia Ecoresin Linea Ochre translucent panel is made of 40% post consumer content. This would be great option for a sliding panel door to your master bath, a partition wall to separate open spaces or paneling along a staircase.
Do your part to save the planet but don't forget that being environmentally conscious can also be quite glamorous.
If you’re afraid of the Easter bunny, don’t be. His style is hoppin’ this Spring season!
Barely there pinks, mellow yellows, minty greens, baby blues and frosty purples bring a youthful charm to some seriously dressed up looks.
And, layering these classic pastels with some basic colors like black, white, grey or brown will make those candy colors pop without washing out.
These outfits from Whyred, Jil Sander, Burberry, Marc Jacobs and Versace do a good job of balancing the ordinary and eccentric by simply layering normal every day looks like a blazer and pairing it with different hues.

Since Spring has sprung and we are wearing less and less each day, the color we should flaunt this season is in the flesh.
No! I’m not telling you to run around in the buff but to reveal more of yourself in Spring's “barely there” color: NUDE!
Pale pinks, blushes, peaches and soft beiges are the shades of nude to play with this season. These natural tones are so simple and versatile that they look good on just about any type of fabric.
The naked truth is that nude can turn any outfit or room into something simply beautiful.

Whoever said you can’t wear white before Memorial Day shouldn’t be doling out fashion advice.

The fashion and interior design world is a buzz right now with insects and this trend is bugging me!
From rings and purses to wallpaper and fabrics, these little creatures are popping up everywhere! Most of the bug designs can be a bit kitschy, but there are still fun yet tasteful ways to follow this look even if you are an insect-phobe just like me.
Simply marry classic colors and patterns with an unexpectedly elegant twist.
A great example of this style are these sandals by Sophia Webster. The design of the shoe is so timeless that you barely notice the fluttering butterfly on the back.
I also love this black and white wallpaper by Vivienne Westwood for Cole & Son. The wild flowers and the creepy crawlers are so naturally intertwined that they are barely noticeable on the wallpaper print.

I can’t get enough of my leather biker jacket in the fall, and I love incorporating metal pieces into urban spaces, but in the frigid winter months these two materials can feel cold and rough.
Incorporating a soft and plushy element like sheepskin can turn that edgy style into something more welcoming. The brilliant designers at Alexander McQueen know this and created a leather vest that’s oh-so HOT!
